Match Report – Perfect Season Sealed!
MCM closed out the regular season in style on Sunday with a 5-3 victory over Donti FC, capping off a flawless campaign and finishing with a perfect 14-0 record.
The match was anything but routine, as Donti FC came ready to spoil the party. In a wide-open contest, both sides exchanged chances early, but it was MCM’s quality in the final third that made the difference. With 23 minutes gone, Jay Lyamah broke the deadlock, finishing confidently to make it 1-0.
Just minutes later, a bad giveaway in defence gifted Donti a goal, bringing them level at 1-1. Despite the setback, MCM regained control and restored their advantage when Rich Jutronich rose highest on a corner and powered home a header, giving the side a 2-1 lead at the break.
After the restart, MCM continued to press forward. Justin Johnston extended the lead to 3-1, smashing home after Rich’s effort rebounded off his recently injured head in a brave piece of play.
But the drama wasn’t over. A defensive lapse let Donti pull one back to 3-2, and with 15 minutes left, the visitors equalized to 3-3.
Even at level terms, MCM showed no signs of panic. With 8 minutes left, Shane stepped up to put MCM back in front at 4-3, sending the squad into celebration. Then, with four minutes remaining, JJ completed his brace in style, breaking free on goal, touching the ball past the onrushing keeper, and calmly tapping into the empty net for 5-3.
With the victory, MCM not only secured their 14th straight win but also etched their names into club history with a perfect regular season. Every player contributed to the journey, showing consistency, resilience, and plenty of flair week after week.
Man of the Match was Steve Delaney making a brief last minute cameo after 10 months out from quad tendon surgery. Steve’s appearance gave the team a big lift, and everyone was thrilled to see him back on the pitch.
