Oakville MCM continued their unbeaten charge through the 2025 campaign with a commanding 3–0 home victory over PRP Foxes on a sunny early morning start at Shell Park. From the first whistle, MCM set the tone and never looked back, delivering one of their most complete performances of the season so far — and securing their third clean sheet on the bounce in the process.
The breakthrough came almost immediately — and it was a goal to savour. Just five minutes in, Shane Provost showcased his trademark grit and creativity, winning his individual battle down the right flank before cutting inside and picking out Nico Mejia with a sharp pass. Mejia, with one elegant touch, slipped a perfectly weighted ball into the path of Marko Vidovich, who made no mistake, finishing cleanly with the outside of his right foot to put Oakville ahead early.
Oakville continued to pile on the pressure and doubled their lead just before halftime. With five minutes left in the opening frame, Josh Portillo stepped up for one of his trademark free kicks and delivered a masterclass in precision — curling a brilliant effort up and over a determined wall and bending it perfectly into the bottom left corner to make it 2–0. The first half ended with MCM fully in control and brimming with confidence.
Eighteen minutes into the second half, Oakville struck again to remove any doubt. Justin Johnston, who had been a constant threat all match, finally found the goal his play deserved. After a smart pass from Jacob Gramegna split the Foxes’ backline, Johnston made no mistake, slotting home with his left foot to extend the lead to 3–0. He might feel he should have bagged a few more on the day as he works to find his signature finishing touch — but with performances like this, the goals are surely on the way.
At the other end, the backline and keeper put in another solid shift to secure a third consecutive clean sheet — underlining MCM’s growing defensive confidence to match their attacking flair.
Man of the Match: Shane Provost earned well-deserved honours for his relentless work rate and decisive impact on the opening goal, setting the tone for MCM’s dominant display.
The Parrot: There were two lucky Parrot winners on the day — Liam and Quin — both of whom fell victim to Saturday night antics and will pay the price $$$
Sideline Entertainment: Coach Braithwaite was not only impressed by the quality on the field but found himself equally entertained by the fiery sideline battle between Coach Gibby and former MCM player — now PRP Foxes coach — Macca. Gibby did not appreciate Macca’s constant comments about MCM’s players and his nonstop efforts to work the officials at every opportunity. In classic Gibby fashion, the quote of the day came at halftime when he turned to the MCM lads and, shaking his head, said, “This Macca really gets under my t1ts.”
